On June 26-27 Ambassador Olexander Scherba participated in the annual “Tocqueville Conversations” in France. In his presentation he dwelled on Ukraine’s successes in fighting Russian aggression and thanked Ukraine’s friends for standing on the right side of history. He concluded by saying: “When 32 years ago the injustice of apartheid was broken, it happened for two reasons: the courage of South African people and the decency of those in the world who stood with them no matter what. And now Ukraine, a country that, as many believed, didn’t have a chance facing a formidable empire, stands her ground for the very same reason: the courage of Ukrainians and the decency of people who stand with them. Your decency. And as a Ukrainian I thank you for that. Freedom will prevail!”
