The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of South Africa extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in yet another massive Russian attack on Kyiv.
Today, the Ukrainian capital is observing a Day of Mourning. State flags are being flown at half-mast, and entertainment events have been cancelled in honour of the victims.
As a result of Russia’s massive missile attack on Kyiv on 6 July, 19 civilians were killed and 58 people were injured, including seven children. Russian ballistic missiles struck residential apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure, once again demonstrating Russia’s deliberate disregard for human life and the principles of international humanitarian law.
We honour the memory of all innocent victims of Russia’s aggression.
Russia continues its systematic campaign of terror against the civilian population of Ukraine. Every war crime must be thoroughly investigated, and all those responsible must be held accountable.
May the victims rest in peace. Their memory will never be forgotten.
