Ambassador Olexander Scherba gave yet another interview on the situation around South Africans stuck in Donbas – this time to AFP. He stressed that by recruiting African soldiers for its war against Ukraine Russia is grossly violating South African legislation. Fighting in this imperial war of conquest won’t make anyone proud or happy, even if there’s some money at the end of it. Russia’s policy is especially vile if the young men were indeed lured into the war under false pretenses. And of course, it must be an eye-opener for a whole society: All Russia is doing in this war is bringing more evil and suffering to families of the world – including Africa. Ambassador concluded by calling on South Africans directly: “Don’t go to this war! Don’t do this to your mothers and fathers and sisters!”
