The book launching of the memoirs of Former military commander in chief of the Armed Forces of South Africa General Jannie Geldenhuys named "We were there," was held at the Museum of the Armed Forces in Johannesburg on the 16-th of December, 2011. Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa H.E. Dr. Valery Hrebeniuk and Consul Sergii Kulykov took part in this event.

The book is dedicated to the memories about 30-year war and confrontation of two systems during the "cold war" time, the analysis of political situation of that time and its impact on the contemporaneity.

The first copy of the English version of the book, General Jannie Geldenhuys presented to the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa H.E. Dr. Valery Hrebeniuk.
