On the occasion of National Women’s Day, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of South Africa extends its warmest congratulations to the women of South Africa.

This important day honours the courage, determination and solidarity of generations of South African women who have stood for equality, dignity and fundamental rights. It also commemorates the historic march of thousands of women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria on 9 August 1956, which became one of the most powerful symbols of women’s contribution to South Africa’s struggle for freedom and justice.

Today, South African women continue to play an indispensable role in the political, economic, social, cultural and academic life of the country, strengthening communities, advancing development and shaping the future of the nation.

 Our countries share an understanding that a peaceful, democratic and prosperous society cannot be built without the full participation, leadership and voices of women.

On this special occasion, we wish all women of South Africa peace, well-being, inspiration, new opportunities and success in all their endeavours.
