Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Olexander Scherba, participated in a meeting hosted by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Mr Ronald Lamola, with resident Heads of Mission from European countries.
The meeting, held on 23 April 2026 at the OR Tambo Building, provided an important platform for discussing current issues of cooperation between South Africa and European partners.
In his remarks, the Ambassador of Ukraine underscored Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, stressing that the war represents a manifestation of modern-day imperialism and a blatant violation of international law. He highlighted the масштаб human losses and destruction, as well as systematic war crimes, including the abduction of Ukrainian children, who are stripped of their identity.
He further emphasized that peace cannot be achieved at the expense of fundamental principles of the international order. The Ambassador called for honest dialogue and efforts aimed at ending the war on just and sustainable terms.
