Ambassador of Ukraine Olexander Scherba, together with Ms Liubov Abravitova, Director of the Department of Africa and African Regional Organisations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, held an introductory meeting with representatives of the African Union Development Agency – NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), Professor Bartholomew Kingsley Armah, Senior Economic Adviser, and Mr Manyewu Mutamba, Senior Programme Coordinator for Food Security.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for practical cooperation within the framework of the forthcoming Ukraine–Africa Strategy.
Agriculture and digitalisation were identified as priority areas, with particular emphasis on opportunities to leverage Ukrainian expertise, technologies and innovative solutions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Special attention was given to the potential for launching joint projects focused on the production of high-value-added goods, technology transfer and the exchange of expertise.
The parties agreed to continue substantive dialogue on agriculture and digitalisation and to explore concrete mechanisms for cooperation between Ukraine and African Union agencies.
