On August 28, together with the diplomatic community, high representatives of the South African government, Ukrainians in South Africa, and our friends and partners, we celebrated the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.

In her address, Her Excellency Ms. Liubov Abravitova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa, emphasized the significance of Ukraine's struggle for freedom and democracy. She invited the guests to observe a moment of silence for the civilian population of Ukraine and the military who died in the war of russia against Ukraine.

We appreciated the attendance of our event by the high representatives of the South African government and the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Dr. Blade Nzimande as the Guest of Honor who spoke about the further development of the relationship between Ukraine and South Africa.

For the opening of our Ceremony, the national anthems of Ukraine and SA were performed by the Bokamoso Art Institute Choir, in partnership with a non-profit organization MIAGI – “Music is a Great Investment”.

The dance performance “We Stand for Freedom” was presented by the President of the Ukrainian Association of SA and choreographer Kateryna Aloshyna and a team of South African artists.
