November 29 this year in the premises of the Greek Orthodox Church in Pretoria the first church service and memorial service in Ukrainian language in history of South Africa were held.

In connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of famine in Ukraine 29 November in the premises of the Greek Orthodox Church in Pretoria, with the blessing of His Eminence Damaskinos, Archbishop of Johannesburg and Pretoria, Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa the first church service and memorial service in Ukrainian language in history of South Africa were held. Citizens of Ukraine who live in South Africa for the first time were able to turn to God in their native language .

After the service the Ambassador and staff of the Embassy met with Ukrainian citizens.

During the meeting the memorial move "Light a candle!" was held and a moment of silence was declared. Patriotic spirit and unity of the Ukrainian community of South Africa once again proved that even at a distance Homeland forever remains in our hearts.
